The Help to Buy Scheme acts as an incentive for first-time home buyers.

It supports you with the deposit you need to purchase or build a new home. It provides you with a refund of Income Tax and Deposit Interest Retention Tax that you paid in Ireland which you can put towards a deposit for your new home.

In order to be eligible, the property you are building or purchasing has to be your home. It can’t have been used previously or been deemed suitable to use as a residential property. You need to register with Revenue before you apply. After this point, you can apply using the application form on Revenue and follow all of the steps.
